Berlin trip. The Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. Germany travel

Berlin has many completely free attractions. Best walking holidays in Europe.

The number of sites inscribed on the World Heritage List of UNESCO and located on the territory of Germany is impressive - as many as 38

In Berlin, you should visit the symbol of Germany - the Brandenburg Gate, located near the fragments of the Berlin Wall, the Reichstag with a new glass dome and a viewing platform under it. Plus many churches (Berlin Cathedral, St. Hedwig Cathedral, St. Mary's Church, St. Nicholas Church), Red Town Hall, the incomparable Charlottenburg Palace and much more. The districts of Berlin are strikingly different from each other: Charlottenburg is the epitome of classic West Berlin, the historically dysfunctional Kreuzberg and Neukolln have long since become fashionable, and the area of Wedding is only gaining popularity. All the main sights of Berlin are within walking distance of each other, you can visit them all during a walk. There is also a magical double-decker bus at number 100, which passes almost all significant places.

State museums in Berlin, as in many other European cities, have days of free visits. It happens every first Wednesday of the month. Free for the whole day are: the Brandenburg Museum of History and Culture of Berlin, the Church of St. Nicholas, the oldest church in the city, the Ephraim Palace - a building with the most beautiful portal and staircase in Berlin, inside which you will be told about the history and culture of the city. You can go to Germany on your own: stay in small towns for a long time, get acquainted with the local cuisine and savor traditional brewed beer, go to the roads beaten by tourists, explore the surroundings or choose your unopened view of the castles, and, of course, watch locals - who else will help you to know the country from the inside, if not them?

The most famous and largest park in Berlin is Tiergarten. It is almost a hundred hectares more than London's Hyde Park and only a third less than Central Park in New York. However, the locals prefer to spend time in more chamber bushes - Volkspark in Friedrichstein and Viktoria Park in the wonderful Kreuzberg district. Volkspark is suitable for unhurried walks and romantic dates near the pond, and Viktoria Park - for picnics and selfies against the background of a sixty-meter waterfall.

You can drink dark beer on the grass or take a walk around the Sunday flea market at Mauerpark in the bohemian Prenzlauerberg district, and take a bike ride at the Tempelhofer park in the former Nazi airfield. There is no shortage of hotels and hostels in Berlin - at every step you will find a small but cozy hotel at a price that is quite reasonable by European standards.

Of course, global hotel chains are also represented here. Pork, sausages, potatoes, stewed sauerkraut - you can eat them every day, three times a day, the main thing, then do not wonder where did these extra pounds come from. In addition to traditional German dishes, cuisines of various nations of the world are widely represented in Berlin as nowhere else, due to the multiculturalism of the city itself.

Where to go next? Most of the ancient cities of Germany will find something to surprise tourists: the cathedrals of Mainz, decorated with stained glass made by Marc Chagall, Essen and Leipzig with towns remembering Bach and Martin Luther, the world's highest Gothic cathedral in Ulm, the architectural complex of San Souci in Potsdam, the ancient temple of Saint-Jones in Magdeburg and the buildings of the Roman era in the city of Trier. As well as numerous castles in Germany: the fabulous Neuschwanstein, Linderhof Palace, Heidelberg Castle, Marksburg Castle, Pfalzgrafenstein Castle or Reinstein Castle.
