Temple of Supreme Bliss: Kek Lok Si Pagoda in Penang

The temple began to be built in 1890, and its construction was completed only 40 years later. The temple is located on a mountain, and its highest point (a huge bronze statue of the goddess) is clearly visible from a taxi or bus. Now tourists can wander through the vast territory, see the pagodas, arches with carvings, thousands of statues and magnificent architecture, which leaves an indelible impression.

Like other regions of Malaysia, Penang has its own unique attractions. What is only one Georgetown, which is under the protection of UNESCO. The temple complex Kek Lok Si consists of several prayer pavilions, carved pagodas, courtyards with statues of Buddha, bodhisattvas and Chinese gods, corners where you can retire on a bench among flowers. There is a large vegetarian restaurant near the temple. The architecture of the temple used Chinese, Thai and Burmese canons of design, reflecting the combination of two branches of Buddhism - Mahayana and Theravada.

The majestic Pagoda 10000 Buddha was built with an octagonal base in the Chinese style, a multi-layered middle part in the Thai style and the tip made in Burmese style. Thai King Rama VI himself laid the foundation stone for construction. Visitors come to the temple with their entire families, feed the turtles, pay respect to the Buddha and his teachings, light incense sticks and tie special ribbons to the stylized wish tree, which differ in color and meaning.

You can wish good luck in all matters, health, family protection, successful career, fulfillment of desires, financial well-being and even excellent exams. The statue of the goddess Guan Yin is made of bronze, at its foot is a pond with fish and a gazebo. The Chinese goddess is traditionally considered the patroness and protector of the female half, childless families come to her, wishing to have children.
