Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan and the gateway to the brightest state of India

There are picturesque places on our planet that attracts tourists, where they really want to come and see everything with their own eyes, at least once

Works of art will always attract thousands of admirers of the beautiful. And, if we are faced with the joint work of man and nature, and, moreover, shrouded in history about justice? Jal Mahal Palace is such a place.

Jal Mahal Palace (Palace on the Water) stands right in the middle of a small lake Man Sagar a few kilometers from the city of Jaipur. The palace was built in the Indo-Muslim style of Madho for the ruler of Rajasthan Singh I in the middle of the XVIII century. and served as a hunting country palace.

Tourists looking at him think that the palace is hanging in the air, barely touching the edge of the water. Legend has it that in ancient times there was a severe drought, which caused famine. People died in thousands from food shortages. Then the governor ordered to partition off the valley where his palace was located, a dam. Gradually, the deepening was filled with water, which in dry years began to be used for irrigation of fields. Well, Jal Mahal, which turned out to be in the middle of an artificial lake, got its present name "Palace on the water".

One of the brightest states of India, Rajasthan, conjures up images of glittering saris, swirling turbans, glorious fortresses and camels strolling through hilly sand dunes. The largest state of India is in the north-west of the country. Most of the territory is occupied by the Tar desert. Rajasthan or "land of the Rajs" (raja means "ruler" in Sanskrit) is a legendary region, which you can take in a fabulous train designed in the style of the great Maharajas. A trip to India will not be complete without a tour to the land of the fearless Rajput princes: Rajasthan.
