Tourism supports Venice afloat in the financial sense, but it also destroys the city. Venetians are fighting to ban cruise ships in the lagoon, print posters calling for respect for the city - not to swim in the canals, not to walk without T-shirts, not to feed pigeons, to spend time on museums and churches, and not just on the march from the station, through Rialto to San Marco.

Street food - it's worth a try. Connoisseurs argue that you can not leave Italy without having tasted street food. This can be a familiar pizza sold piece by piece, a focaccia tortilla with cheese, a pyadina (something similar to a pita bread envelope) with vegetables, meat or cheese, fried pieces of fish or seafood.
