Temple Ta Prohm. The most famous temple complex of Cambodia is Angkor Wat.

Angkor Temple Complex is the main attraction of Cambodia

The complex is so huge that it can rightly be attributed to the list of the most majestic and grandiose structures of Southeast Asia. Every year thousands of people visit the temples of Angkor. Angkor Wat is the place because of which it is worth visiting Cambodia at least once in your life. The temple occupies about 2 square kilometers, includes a moat 190 meters wide, a courtyard surrounded by stone walls, where there are three concentric buildings on the platform - terraces, each has a gallery around the perimeter, through which entrances you can get inside the temple. The main entrance to the territory is located on the west side. The temple has five towers, which all five can be seen from certain points of the temple. Usually there are only three towers. The highest tower is central, it has a height of 213 meters.

Nearby temples of Angkor usually visit two routes: a small circle and a large circle of Angkor. There are a few more temples that are located on a branch from these two circles - these are the temples of Bantaey Srei and Banteay Samre. Small and large circles of Angkor are two routes to visit the temples, each designed for one day. The length of the small circle is about 17 km. The length of a large circle - 26 km.

Everything in the history of the Khmer Empire speaks of progressive development, of trial and error. Perhaps it is precisely in this way that it differs from many other ancient civilizations, where the construction technology appeared at once, and then deteriorated with time, until it was completely lost.

One of the most popular temples of Angkor, Ta Prohm is always full of tourists

Tourists better come in the evening: after four o'clock in the afternoon, there are still fewer people, and the light gently and magically rests on the walls of the temple and highlights the extraordinary trees that wrapped around Ta Prohm. It is also better to begin the inspection of the temple not from the west entrance, where trade is developed, but from the east. It will be possible even for a moment to be alone. But you can exit from the western entrance and ask your driver to wait for you there.

The magic of the symbiosis of wood and stone in Ta Prohm shows the inviolability of nature and the futility of human efforts to transcend it. Nature has eternity ahead, whereas we are mortal. No matter how overly promoted by Ta Prohm, it is really worth the visit. There are eternal things in the world and therefore they do not become trivial because they have become available.

Ta Prohm Temple is one of the first temples and monasteries of Angkor, which is among the most famous sights of Cambodia. It was built during the reign of King Jayavarman VII at the end of the XII century, along with another temple-city of Angkor Thom. The original name of the temple is Rajavihara, which means "King's Monastery". A unique feature of Ta Prohm is that it is oriented along the axis-east-west, and in antiquity had four entrances to the territory. To date, there are only two of them - the main west, filled with merchants, and the quiet east. The modern name of Ta Prohm means "ancestor of Brahma.".

Angkor Wat Temple is located about 5 km from the city of Siem Reap. Angkor Wat is a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Vishnu. It is the most important temple in Cambodia. It was built during the reign of King Suryavarman II (1113 - 1150). After the capital of the state moved to Phnom Penh in 1432, Buddhist monks supported the care of the temple. Abandoned in the 15th century, the temple was again "opened" to Europeans in 1861 by the French traveler Henri Mouau. The Frenchman is not the only one who visited there, but it was he who managed to convey his impressions to the public.
